There are some rules which govern the placement of accidentals when notating music. Here are a few of the important ones.
The accidental should be aligned slighty to the left of the note.
When accidentals occur on two notes of a chord less than a fifth apart one of the accidentals should be aligned further to the left than the other. Common practice is to have the lower accidental aligned further to the the left than the upper accidental.
When a Clef change occurs in the middle of a bar and the same note occurs before and after. The accidental must be repeated.
